Dirty Games By Former DCI Boss George Kinoti That Bungled Gachagua’s Graft Case

Date:

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua may soon walk free in the graft case that has been on his neck for the past few years.

According to the Standard, lead investigator in the matter Kuria Obadiah has requested the matter against Gachagua to be withdrawn. This move has reportedly been endorsed by the Office of Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The daily added that another DCI officer by the name Martin Otieno has recanted bulk of evidence adduced in support of a constitutional case which featured prominently in turf wars between DPP Noordin Haji and former DCI boss George Kinoti.

On his side, Obadiah said they were rushed to investigate the case by former DCI boss George Kinoti to lock Gachagua.

“The investigation team I headed was given strict and fixed timelines to come up with findings promptly which made it difficult to conduct thorough investigations into the allegations.” Stated Obadiah in an affidavit sworn on October 15th, 2022.

Obadiah alleged that his boss directed them to make recommendations that would enable the accused persons to face charges. He went ahead to reveal that based on the immense pressure from his director, his team was forced to make the recommendations that put Gachagua on the dock.

“There are crucial areas of investigations that were not adequately covered in the course of our investigations that would shed some light in determining the culpability or otherwise of the accused persons charged.” He spoke.
