Didmus Barasa Breaks Silence Moments After Being Accused Of Hiding From Police To Evade Arrest

Date:

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has broken his silence after reports emerged that he was being hunted down by the police.

It was alleged that the lawmaker had gone into hiding following the manhunt over claims of forgery and theft of a government vehicle after he rebranded a CDF vehicle with UDA colors alongside his campaign photos as well as that of Deputy president William Ruto.

According to detectives, Barasa changed the vehicle’s number plate from GK948J to KBS 709 D which belongs to his brother.

In a tweet however, the lawmaker accused his competitor Brayan Khaemba of DAP-Kenya of being behind his woes.

“Oooh Bryan Khaemba-Bk the DAP candidate who wants to dethrone me from the Kimilili Parliamentary seat now this is campaign! Hahaha. Three days ago you tweeted VITINA causing the police to come to my compound, Isorait ,” Barasa said.

He however promised Khaemba a thorough beating in August 9 general elections while revealing that he had already recorded a statement with the police concerning the matter.

“You are a well known fraudulent person who was dismissed as a magistrate for bribery allegations. Tukutane kwa ground. I have recorded my statement with the police and asked them not to join your campaign team,” Barasa noted.

The vehicle in question was recovered from Barasa’s home in Nasianda village, after detectives failed to find it at CDF offices.

The police had to break into his home after the MP’s workers declined to let them in.
