Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has revealed that a powerful post in government awaits him once Kenya Kwanza brigade claims victory in the coming elections.
Barasa, who has always been a staunch supporter of DP Ruto, was elected to parliament through a Jubilee ticket and is just winding up his first term in office but it seems that his loyalty to the second in command will surely pay off.
The lawmaker who was addressing locals in Kimilili shortly after a daytime robbery at Ushirika bank revealed that he will be the Cabinet Secretary of Interior, taking over from Fred Matiang’i once they win elections.
Barasa said so while calling upon the police to carry out their responsibilities in dealing with criminals that are troubling the lives of Kimilili locals.
“These people know the criminals who are killing people here but if they mention them and testify in their cases, they get attacked and killed by the same people in their homes. The person whom they have told me is the thug here is the Dreamland driver’s son.
“It is better for me to say because at home I have police officers with guns guarding me but these people don’t. If there is a person disturbing the locals here, we have given you the mandate to deal with them, nobody will arrest you, I am going to be the minister for Interior…” Barasa told the police officers as the locals burst into cheers.
He said that they will support the police in ensuring that there is security in the region for the safety of his constituents.
The armed robbers attacked two police officers and the Ushirika bank manager as they were transporting the cash in the bank’s vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.Â
“Sergeant Boniface Hamisi was shot on both legs at the thigh while APC Joseph Lomulen was shot on the right knee. The Ushirika Bank manager Kennedy Khalakai was shot on the left side of the stomach and the bullet still lodged in,” reads the police report.
The robbers are said to have escaped with a total of Kshs 25 million following the attack.
