Details have emerged as to why blogger Robert Alai and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary general Edwin Sifuna almost skinned each other alive on Saturday as Raila Odinga watched helplessly.
The leaders had accompanied Raila Odinga on a Nairobi tour but hell broke loose when they reached around Kileleshwa area in Dagoretti North constituency.
Sonko News has credible reports that Sifuna who was the master of ceremony had all along vowed to punish Robert Alai by denying him a chance to address the Kileleshwa residents.
On his side, Robert Alai was aware of the plans by Edwin and he moved near Raila’s vehicle with the hope that he would be given a chance to speak. However, his efforts to reach Baba directly were futile.
Feeling cornered and frustrated, the Kileleshwa ward ODM flag bearer went back to Sifuna’s car to grab the microphone but he was not lucky as Sifuna resisted any attempt to give him the gadget.
It was at that point when the two leaders exchanged some few blows on top of the car, forcing Raila Odinga to intervene by chanting “Alai! Alai! Alai!”Â
At the same time, some netizens claimed that Robert Alai and Edwin Sifuna had their own personal differences which they decided to air publicly during their Azimio rally in Nairobi county.
It’s even alleged that the beef began when Alai a few years ago exposed the ODM secretary general for sleeping with a young school girl, something which annoyed the son from the Mulembe Nation.
The blogger had also on several occasions called out the ODM secretary general and other ODM top leaders such as John Mbadi and Oduor Ongwen to resign for embarrassing Raila Odinga.
As a result, the Nairobi rally prevented an opportune moment for the two leaders to square it out once and for all before all Kenyans and were it not for Raila Odinga’s intervention, the country would be talking of a different story now.
