President William Samoei Ruto appointed various individuals to the cabinet secretary positions to serve in his Kenya Kwanza government.
The long-awaited list came as a shocker since most people who were named were not only strangers in the public eye but also did not belong to the political circles.
The vetting of the leaders began on Monday spearheaded by the National Assembly speaker Moses Masika Wetangula. However, what has stood out from president Ruto’s nominee cabinet is the fact that they are filthy rich.
From their net worth, one could easily tell that it was a club of rich tycoons. For instance, Cabinet Secretary nominee for Interior and National Administration, Abraham Kithure Kindiki said his net worth is around KES 544 million. Kindiki said he has practiced law for 22 years and asserts that he has generated his wealth through his income as a High Court advocate, business, and consultancy.
Prime Cabinet Secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi revealed he is worth KES 4 billion while Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation CS nominee Alice Wahome said she is worth Kes 218 million.
On his side, Attorney General nominee Justin Muturi revealed that his financial net worth is estimated at KES 700 million with CS for Defense Aden Duale stating that he is worth Kes 851 million.
The former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also revealed that he is worth KES 420 million.
Well, insider sources have disclosed to Sonkonews that president Ruto opted to appoint these tycoons because they were very significant during his presidential campaigns.
A source which spoke to us on condition of anonymity revealed that most of these millionaires greatly contributed financially towards Ruto’s campaigns. According to the source, these leaders, unlike the others, used their own money to organize political rallies without bothering Ruto.
“Most of those leaders nominated to the cabinet secretary supported the president financially and he had to reward them. You must give it to Ruto, the guy keeps promises.” Said the source.
