Kipyegon Kenei, the police sergeant was one of the five officers who guarded Harambee House Annex when former Sport Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and two foreigners visited Deputy President William Ruto’s office.
The officer was found dead at his one room house in Imara, Daima on Thursday, February 20.
A police report indicated he went missing on Tuesday, February 18, before he could record a statement over the KSh 39.5 billion military tender scam allegedly executed at the office of the DP.
The officer was found with a gunshot wound.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has began investigations to unravel the mystery behind the officer’s death.
The DP said the 33-year-old was a disciplined officer as called for speedy investigations into the incident. “Deeply saddened by the death of Police Sergent Kipyegon Kenei who worked in my Harambee House Annex Office.
Kenei was a disciplined young police officer. I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death,” he tweeted.
