Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kisumu, are investigating an incident whereby a police officer was attacked in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
The police officer, who is attached at Nyamasira police post, was on his way to check on his colleagues who were on patrol at around 4.30am whe he was accosted by four robberattackerss who were armed with an AK47 rifle.
The thugs pounced on the police after he stopped at Hub petrol station that is located along Kisumu- Nairobi Highway to fuel the police vehicle.
The attackers forced him out of the vehicle, while threatening him with the rifle. He sustained minor injuries on his legs and hands in the process.
The thugs escaped in the vehicle towards Nairobi.
The vehicle’s registration number is, GKB 110A/ KBQ431Q, according to the police report.
Other things that the victim lost in the early morning incident include; Â “black laptop bag containing a police radio set ,a police note book ,a personal mountain bike, a brown wallet containing an ATM card, an identification card, an NHIF card and a police certificate of appointment.”
