Renowned lawyer D Omari has dragged Gender CS Aisha Jumwa over pending legal bills amounting to Kshs17.4 million.
According to court papers filed at Mombasa Law Court by Omari’s legal team, Musyoki and Mogaka Company advocates, Jumwah owes their client the above mentioned amount of money after he represented him in a corruption case, where it was alleged that she embezzled Ksh19 million CDF funds.
Omari is seeking Kshs10 million from Jumwa as charges for representing her in the corruption case. He further seeks Kshs1.4 million ” for drafting and filing submissions, notices of motion, and receiving and perusing a letter from the DPP and another Ksh.3 million is for attending court for hearings and mentions.”
Other charges that are expected to be covered by the defendant include printing, binding and telephone services.
“Fees to cover instructions to represent the respondent in the complex Mombasa anti-corruption case number 6 of 2020, Republic vs. Aisha Jumwa and 7 others, where the respondent was charged with the following criminal charges,” part of the court document read.
The DPP however withdrew charges that Jumwa was facing in October 22 under section 87(a) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
