Investigations into the murder of Daniel Musyoka, who served as the Returning Officer of Embakasi East Constituency have started bearing fruits.
So far, the police have managed to arrest four individuals who have been linked to the gruesome murder of the IEBC official. This is after it was established that they used the deceased’s mobile phone after his disappearance.
According to reports, the phone was traced to Kisii, where it had been sold to a woman. Police say that the contents of the mobile phone were deleted before it was sold.
The woman was first arrested after using the phone for nearly a month. She was later used to lure those who sold her the phone into the police trap.
She contacted the man who handed the phone after which it emerged that the man had also been handed the phone by another man who is well known to him.
“The four allegedly sold the gadget to a woman who has been using it since the IEBC official went missing. Detectives had been trying to trace the whereabouts of the gadget after they realized that it was in use,” an officer privy to the investigation revealed.
The detective revealed that the phone first changed hands in Umoja estate in Nairobi and further investigations on how the phone ended up in use are ongoing.
Musyoka disappeared on August 11, moments before he announced winners of the general elections in Embakasi for the Member of National Assembly as well as Members of County Assembly races. Preliminary investigations established that Musyoka excused himself from the constituency tallying center to pick up a call but he never returned.
His deputy was forced to declare winners of the elections as investigations to establish his whereabouts commenced. 4 days later, his body was found dumped at the Amboseli National Park in Kajiado South Sub-County. His body was naked and had some physical injuries.
An autopsy conducted on his body indicated that he could have died of strangulation and that his neck was badly injured.
