Wiper leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka has sent ODM leader Raila Odinga, president Uhuru Kenyatta and the entire Azimio team into more panic following his press briefing.
Kalonzo Musyoka while speaking to journalists on Tuesday made it clear that things would not be easy as majority of Kenyans have been expecting.
According to Kalonzo Musyoka, the 2017 National Super Alliance (NASA) pact with Raila Odinga must be honored no matter what. He said that the 2017 pact with the ODM leader is still valid.
Kalonzo revealed that according to the 2017 pact, Raila Odinga vowed to support him in 2022 regardless of the 2017 election outcome.
The wiper leader also regretted that the other former National Super Alliance (NASA) principals Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi had to abandon their coalition to form the Kenya kwisha (in his own terms).
Asked whether the NASA pact was still binding now given that it is dead, the Wiper leader admitted that although it was not binding, the agreement between him and Raila as an individual must be honored.
Consequently, Kalonzo Musyoka has just thrown the spanner into the wax because supporters of president Uhuru and Raila Odinga were pretty sure that Mr. Musyoka would join the coalition and throw his weight behind the opposition chief.
The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals on Friday treated Kenyans drama after stating that their individual parties will officially be part and parcel of Azimio One kenya alliance.
“OKA is in talks with Jubilee and ODM to form a coalition to be known as Azimio One Kenya Alliance,” Kalonzo told a news conference late Friday,
Kalonzo’s sentiments were reiterated by Gideon Moi who wrote the following in his social media handle:
“We have initiated dialogue with political formations – Jubilee and ODM – because of our shared ideals of a united nation anchored on the rule of law and sustainable development. Addressing the media together with H.E Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon Cyrus Jirongo at SKM Center.”
The OKA principals under the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, Martha Karua and Cyrus Jirongo addressed the nation from OKA secretariat (Stephen kalonzo Musyoka Center Command Center) in karen.
The leaders also said that they would soon come up with their presidential candidate who would spearhead the talk with like minded political coalitions in the country.
However, Kalonzo’s latest demands to Raila may just make the whole deal not materialize any time soon.
