Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is appealing to well wishers to join him in helping veteran boxer Conjestina Achieng’.
This is after Conjestina’s son Charltone Otieno approached him via WhatsApp requesting for his help once again since her mother’s condition is worsening.
Sonko however bashed politicians for concentrating on politics and not even bothering to help the woman who made this country proud during her days in the boxing ring.
“Our leaders are busy campaigning while one of our shujaas who once made this country proud is currently languishing in poverty and needs help due to her ill health.
“I have single handedly helped her before, taken her to various hospitals and rehabilitation centers including Nairobi County rehabilitation center in Parklands, Diani Beach among others where she gets full recovery and discharged then when she gets back to shags after a while gets worse again,” Sonko said on his social media pages.
He went ahead to share the screenshots of his conversation with Charltone. In the conversation, the upcoming boxer appreciated Sonko for the help that he has given to his family regarding his mother’s condition.
He further said that they have been advised to take Conjestina for prayers in Mombasa but they were facing financial constraints.
“I request if you can give any kind of support . We wish to take her back to rehab so that she can regain her shape. We have been advised to take her for prayers, we believe it is going to work. We have someone in mind but we are going through financial constraints,” Charltone said in his message adding that they were planning to take her to a pastor identified as Ezekiel of the New life Church at the Coast.
Charltone also noted that they intended to use private transport to avoid publicity and required Kshs 25,000 for accommodation.
“If that is the case let me dispatch one vehicle quietly,” Sonko responded.
Sonko has since dispatched his team to Siaya county to get Conjestina.
This comes just days after a photo of the former boxer in a very disturbing state emerged online.
