Boxing veteran Congestina Achieng on Friday torched her house in Gem Yala citing frustrations from family members.
Congestina Achieng has been suffering from depression and mental health issues which saw her boxing career quickly come to an end.
As a result, Achieng has been keeping a low profile while attending rehabilitation centers in a bid to gain normalcy.
The news of the former boxer burning her house just adds to the many frustrations the boxer has been facing in her journey of mental breakdown.
Following her predicaments, a number of people and organizations have been coming to her aid in a number of ways.
For instance, radio and Kenyan sports personality Carol Radull revently highligted the troubles facing Congestina Achieng who was merely relying on fake promises from Heroes Council.
At the same time, NACADA joined the rest of Kenyans who were responding to the call to the plight of the former boxing Champion. Accordingly, the Authority committed to settle the cost of one month’s rehabilitation for Congestina Achieng.
Confirming the development, NACADA Chief Executive Officer Victor Okioma underscored the need to ensure that Conjestina was taken through the rehabilitation process in good time to avoid further deterioration of the athlete’s health.
