Four Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney general nominees were on Monday vetted by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
Those vetted include Musalia Mudavadi who was nominated for the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Justin Muturi( Attorney General), Aden Duale(Defense), Alfred Mutua(Foreign Affairs), and Alice Wahome who is the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Water and Sanitation.
One of the general questions that each of them was asked was to declare the amount of their Wealth. Mudavadi revealed that he is worth 4 billion while Muturi said that he is 700 million rich.
Duale, Mutua, and Wahome said that they are worth 851 million, 420 million, and 219 million respectively thus proving that the Kenya Kwanza government is made of billionaires and millionaires only.
This has sparked reactions among Kenyans, especially after the group branded themselves as hustlers during campaigns. The team said that it was a moment for low-income earners such as Mama mboga and Boda Boda riders, yet the top positions were designated for those who are wealthy.
“Ladies and gentlemen, over Kshs6 billion appeared for vetting in bunge today(Monday)Â to join Mama mboga government,” ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna tweeted.
“Musalia Mudavadi is Worth 4B and is getting vetted to take an unconstitutional role and he is set to be paid almost 1M per month Plus allowances by a government with a dilapidated Economy with ONLY 98M. It’s a mama mboga moment !” a netizen said.
“What we learn from the first day of the vetting of CS nominees is that you have to be worth a few hundred million to be considered. There’s never going to be time for Mama Mboga. That was a campaign hoax!” another said.
“If this Government is really for the hustlers, Mama Mboga and Boda Boda iders , atleast 2 PS jobs should be given to ordinary Kenyans with good Credentials,” read a comment on Twitter.
