A Bolivian man narrated his shocking encounter whereby he found himself buried six-feet underground in a coffin after a night of merry making.
According to sources, 30-year old Victor Hugo Mica Alvarez, was buried after he lost consciousness at the time when Pachamama festival was beginning. The festival involves offering sacrifices to mother nature and the man believes that he had also been offered as a human sacrifice during the incident that occurred earlier this month.
During the festival, Metro UK reports that “Indigenous people offer everything from live animals and sheep foetuses to sweets and coca leaves for the goddess, who they believe ‘opens her mouth’ for offerings in August.”
He told local media that he was able to get out of the grave after smashing the coffin’s glass but the exercise left him with pain in his body.
“Last night was the pre-entry (of the festival), we went dancing. And afterwards, I don’t remember. The only thing I remember is that I thought I was in my bed, I wanted to get up and go to urinate and I couldn’t move. When I pushed the coffin, I was able to break a glass that it had and that way I was able to get out. They wanted to use me as a sullu.” he said.
He reported the incident to the police but they did not believe him saying that he was drunk and would come out of the situation healthy.
