Education cabinet secretary Mr. George Magoha has come out strongly to downplay the decision by the PSC to strip him his human resource mandates.
Magoha’s powers were reduced following his statements at Langas Primary school in Eldoret last week. While there, professor Magoha humiliated the Uasin Gishu Education Director Mr. Mbaka Gitonga.
In a video that was circulated online, the visibly angry CS referred to the director as a foolish man who did not understand his roles. It is alleged that the CS was not happy with the state of the school before he went on the rampage.
However, the no nonsense Magoha said that he will keep on fulfilling his mandates unless instructed by the appointing authority President Kenyatta. “Unless otherwise directed by my appointing authority, I shall continue to perform all my duties and responsibilities with zeal and commitment and ensure all officers in the Ministry perform their duties for the benefit of the Kenyan child, parents and all education stakeholders.” Said the CS.
He further added that things ought to be done differently if meaningful change is to be realized. He noted that such drastic moves must be taken even though they may receive resistance.

In his defense, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general Mr. Wilson Sossion claimed that Magoha was a victim of cartels within the education docket. According to Sossion, these cartels are not happy with George Magoha because of his fight on corruption.
Sossion alleged that these are the same cartels that conspired to remove education CS Amina Mohammed.
