Comedian Eric Omondi has always been full of controversies and that is one thing that he has embraced in his life.
Ranging fromĀ his show Wife Material, to being exposed for sleeping with women without paying them, bankruptcy and even his dramatic protests, Eric has seen negative things being written about him but he is not worried an inch about such.
“It is good, have you ever seen a wedding on the news? It is always about accidents, negativity sells. If you go to Obare(blogger) and tell him that Eric Omondi has gone to a children’s home he will not buy that, you have to say Eric Omondi owes me money that will sell,” Eric said in an interview with Presenter Ali.
The Big Time Entertainment CEO added thatĀ the negativities do not stain his brand at all and his brand is used to that while likening himself to a mango tree with ripe fruits.
“I am used to it. Carol Leehavi(Manzi wa TRM) came and said that I had s** with her and did not pay her, I did not fight her, I expect that in fact if that doesn’t happen I get scared. If two months pass without anyone saying anything I start asking myself if it is my downfall.
“My brand is like a mango tree with ripe mangoes , so if you see people not throwing stones at the tree it does not have value,” Eric said.
He however attributes his success in the industry to Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill. Eric says that Churchill played a big role in shaping him.
“He found me looking like a street urchin. He saw that I had a talent, he groomed me and put me on Churchill live so I am forever grateful to him. That’s why I defend him a lot, I don’t like to hear anybody saying that Churchill has not paid him. Nowadays if they try that I insult them and I can even beat them. Comedians should pay Churchill, Churchill is not supposed to pay anybody. I am very emotional in protecting him, he is like my father Omondi said.
