Boniface Mwangi Blames Kenya Kwanza Politicians After Tuesday’s Peaceful Protests Turned Chaotic

Date:

Renown activist and journalist Boniface Mwangi alias The People’s watchman is blaming unnamed politician for the chaos and violence that was witnessed during the anti-Finance bill protests on Tuesday.

In a long X post, Mwangi noted that the protests were very peaceful, that even he helped his paraplegic friend participate in the protests.

“I am heartbroken by the tragic and unnecessary loss of life, following the unprovoked killing of innocent civilians today.

“I took part in today’s protest proudly, peacefully, and unarmed. I was pushing the wheelchair of my friend Ghandi, who is a paraplegic after suffering crippling injuries in a motorcycle accident. He came out to protest because these taxes will affect him too, ” Mwangi said.

Mwangi added that they were peaceful but politicians couldn’t stand the well organized protests, thus sending goons and criminals, who caused a massive damage on property.

According to him, these politicians are behind the passing of Finance Bill 2024, after refusing to listen to the voice of the people.

“They infiltrated our ranks with paid goons who have caused massive damage to property. The police, instead of exercising restraint, decided to murder unarmed citizens. There is no justification to use lethal force unless it’s to protect life. Life. Not furniture. The government has murdered innocent citizens, and they’re likely going to go after individuals who took part in the protests,” Mwangi wrote.

“We have a tone-deaf government that has spent the past week abducting and terrorizing innocent citizens. We hope that this trend doesn’t continue, and there will be zero victimization of innocent people,” he added.

The activist however noted that Gen Zs would still resist tough actions from the government, since the blame of the criminal activities have fallen on them.

“The innocence of the Gen Z’s has been lost, and any hardline actions from the government will be resisted in peaceful protests as envisioned by the Constitution. We mourn the heroes we lost today. We shall celebrate their sacrifice and help their families bury them. To those who are in hospital, we wish you a speedy recovery,” Mwangi.
