Bolt, an online ride-hailing company on Monday, October 23 responded to allegations of a driver exposing his private parts while ferrying female passengers.
While responding to a statement shared by former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, Bolt noted that it had taken up investigations by engaging the driver involved.
The online ride-hailing company however vowed to protect its clients from such similar incidences.
“We are also actively engaging with the affected rider, and once again take this opportunity to express our sincere concern and empathy over this unfortunate incident,” their response read in part.
“We remain committed to promptly addressing and continuously supporting our valued clients during such difficult moments. At Bolt, the safety of our drivers and passengers remains our highest priority. We remain committed to vigilance and swift response in handling such incidents,” Bolt added.
Sonko had earlier condemned the incident while calling for other victims to come forward. The Former Nairobi Governor insisted that their concerted efforts were key to ending the vice.
He noted that the incident happened in Nairobi where the client forced the driver to end the trip before reaching their destination.
“This conduct should not be tolerated, and I urge anyone with more information or has faced a similar ordeal to come forward so that we can protect our mothers, daughters, or family members. Let this video act as an educational and send a warning to young ladies to be extremely cautious before boarding cabs, especially when vulnerable or unaccompanied,” Sonko wrote.
