Blow To Waiguru As Court Dismisses Her Bid To Stop Her Impeachment

Date:

The High Court on June 11 dismissed a case filed by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru seeking to stop her impeachment.

On Thursday, High Court Judge, Justice Weldon Korir declined to overturn the impeachment of the Kirinyaga Governor saying the County Assembly of Kirinyaga did not violate any court order as claimed by the Governor.

Waiguru on Wednesday moved to the court to stop her impeachment on the grounds the County Assembly had been ordered to halt the impeachment motion.

In her case, Waiguru also argued that the ward representatives acted in contempt of court orders in voting to remove her from office.

Waiguru asked the court to declare her removal from office as null and void pending the hearing and determination of the case before the court.
