Former National Assembly Majority Leader and Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale on Saturday exposed deputy president William Samoie Ruto after President Uhuru Kenyatta made the remarks of not electing thieves.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had on Friday told Ruri residents to be cautious not to elect individuals who would steal everything from the public and instead, he urged them to elect those that would continue with his legacy and that of former president Mwai Kibaki.
Despite President Uhuru not mentioning anyone, Aden Duale while in a UDA meeting in Kajiado scathingly attacked the head of state for his remarks.
“You are telling us the eight million jubilee supporters in your own leading are full of conmen and crooks and thieves. That is an insult to the Jubilee family and your supporters,” stated Duale.
Other Ruto allies who attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the thieves remarks were Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua.
Mumias town member of parliament Benjamin Washiali who is also very close to DP Ruto also decried that the president was determined to prevent his deputy from succeeding him by branding him a thief. This was despite that Uhuru never mentioned anyone!
However, Kenyans quickly defended president Uhuru from the sustained attacks by the Ruto allies. According to these Kenyans, the president only warned Ruiru residents of not electing thieves without mentioning any specific name.
As a result, they wondered why deputy president’s allies such as Duale, Washiali, and Rigathi Gachagua were taking those statements personal yet Ruto was not mentioned.
“You see how thieves behave? President Kenyatta made a general statement and it baffles me how the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) side took the statement personal. Why are they guilty rather why think that it was Ruto being referred to out of the 50 million Kenyans? Kwani this country has no other well known thieves?”
“You see how these leaders for hire always expose Ruto? Uhuru just cautioned the public against putting into office someone who would chew all their taxes. Why are the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals or the ODM side not complaining? Why just the UDA side? Anyway we now know who the thieves are based on the guilt by Ruto and his allies. They just exposed him big.”
At the same time, the Garissa town legislator told off the head of state to use the instruments of power at his disposal to ensure that he brings things to order.
“You have the instrument of power. The National Intelligence Service fall under you, you have the EACC, you have the DCI, you have the Auditor General. Use those and tell the country. Be specific. A leader must talk with specificity,” retorted Duale.
