UDA presidential candidate William Ruto has been dealt a huge blow after 10,000 of his votes from Kiambu constituency were deducted.
IEBC made the correction after it was established that there were some inconsistencies in form 34A and 34B, from the mentioned constituency.
Results submitted earlier by the Returning Officer indicated that Ruto had garnered 51,050. It however emerged that there was a transcription error. The error was however corrected and actual results indicate that he garnered 41,050 votes.
While announcing the verified presidential results at the Bomas of Kenya auditorium, IEBC commissioner commissioner Justus Nyang’aya noted that the figures were corrected in form 34C.
According to him, the inconsistency was noticed by a journalist.
“Thank you journalists for bringing this to my attention,” Nyang’aya said.
He also said that there was an error at Thindigua primary Center whereby Raila’s results were recorded as 11 votes instead of 111. The error has since been rectified.
Raila garnered 14,860 votes from the constituency after the error was rectified.
