A number of billionaires are set to attend Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja convention at the Kasarani stadium on Friday.
On Wednesday, Raila Odinga met a number of Mount Kenya Foundation leaders who disclosed that they will fully back his 2022 presidential bid after careful consultations.
As a result, the billionaires vowed to show solidarity with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader by attending Kasarani’s Azimio La Umoja meeting this Friday.
The businessmen also warned Mt. Kenya residents of going against the wishes of president Uhuru Kenyatta since that would jeopardise his vision of uniting the country.
On his side, Mt. Kenya Foundation Chairman Peter Munga promised that they would be reaching out to other Kenyan communities so that they attend the much awaited Azimio La Umoja convention.
“In the MKF we had a meeting of the Mt Kenya North. The ten counties from Mandera to Turkana to Marsabit under the UPYA Movement. So Friday morning, you leaders and the leaders of UPYA will convene here early in the morning and we’ll walk to Kasarani for the Azimio La Umoja,” the founder and Executive Director of Bell Industries Limited, Titus Ibui said.
In what was seen as an indirect attack at deputy president William Ruto, the billionaires revealed that they would not be comfortable being led by those who have been involved in corrupt deals.
In the meantime, Bahati member of parliament Kimani Ngunjiri recently disclosed the crazy amount each Mt. Kenya tycoon will give Raila Odinga while taking a swipe at the Foundation for meeting the opposition leader.
According to Kimani Ngunjiri, these Mt. Kenya tycoons have been perennial brokers of the government and the larger Mt. Kenya since time immemorial.
Apparently, Kimani Ngunjiri further noted that there is nothing meaningful these tycoons have helped the common mwananchi with except for pushing their own selfish agenda.
With regards to the bank ownership, the Bahati member of parliament said that these are the faces behind the ownership of most commercial banks in Kenya.
“I want to tell Kenyans that nobody can cheat Wanjiku from Mt. Kenya who knows what he wants and they have joined other Kenyans. We are measuring these people by their track records. Some must be given contracts and other things they want.” He said.
At the same time, Kimani Ngunjiri alleged that each of those Mt. Kenya tycoons that met Raila Odinga will give him 1 billion each so that he uses the same towards his 2022 presidential ambitions.
“Today wameiba pesa ya serikali, Raila wanampea 1 billion each person. Iyo pesa lazima itarudishwa kwa ukora ile wamepanga. Raila will be given that money but let me tell you your in wrong track for those people.
“We in Mt. Kenya we are not led by a group, we are not led by singers, elders, nothing! Let me assure you Raila, those people will not help you. They just want to eat you because they know you are in deep state and that money is coming from the government.
“But let me tell you, amongst those people you met, none of them has a vote in their pocket that they will give to you. The best thing you can do is to seek for votes by yourself.” continued Kimani Ngunjiri.
