A burial ceremony of a woman at Kapmeswon village in Sotik, Bomet County was called off after swarm of bees attacked mourners.
According to a report by Citizen digital, the incident occurred on Thursday October 14 forcing mourners to scamper for safety.
Three family members who were seriously injured during the incident were rushed to Kaplong Mission Hospital. Other mourners are said to be nursing minor injuries.
It is alleged that the bees attacked mourners since the husband of the deceased had not paid her dowry.
Elders expressed their concerns and advised the family to conduct the burial at the deceased’s parents home in Olenguruone in Nakuru County.
The family was forced to return the deceased’s body to the morgue as they reschedule the burial plans that will adhere to the Kipsigis traditions.
Three weeks ago, a burial ceremony of a woman in Mumias Kakamega County was brought to a standstill after an old man was nabbed placing eggs near the deceased’s head.
Benson Mumia is said to have placed one egg on the left side of the head and another on the right but he was nabbed in the process by Jane Aseka who raised alarm.
Mumia’s intentions were unknown but elders believed he might have been involved in the death of the deceased and by placing eggs in her coffin, the dead’s spirit would not disturb him.
Mourners descended on Mumia subjecting him to a beating leaving him with mild injuries after the priest who was conducting the burial ceremony intervened.
“Ever since I was born I have never seen or heard a case like this one, we are suspecting he was involved in the death of the deceased considering her demise was abrupt,” said one of the mourners.
