News reaching the Sonko News desk indicates that the Bank Of Uganda governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has died.
According to a source, Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile passed on this morning at Nairobi Hospital where he has battled illness for a long time.
The veteran man within the neighboring country was until his death a Ugandan economist and banker. He has been the governor of the Bank of Uganda, the central bank of Uganda.
He was first appointed to that position on 1 January 2001 and was re-appointed for a second five-year term on 1 January 2006.

The late Mutebile has been in and out of the hospital in the recent years. A few weeks ago, he was rushed to Nakasero hospital in Kampala in a critical condition. He would later be transferred to Kenya’s Nairobi hospital for emergency attention.
The late Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile is credited with a number of sound economic policies adopted by the Republic of Uganda during the 1990s and 2000s.
At some point, he was forced to run away from Ugamda after he took a swipe at former President Idi Amin Dada for discriminating against the Asian people.
