Bangladesh Prime Minister Runs For Her Life As Protestors Storm Her Palace

Date:

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has finally stepped down and fled to India for refuge after weeks of protests that have rocked the country.

According to reports, Hasina left the country aboard a military chopper, after Protestors ignored nationwide curfew and stormed the prime minister’s palace in Dhaka on Monday.

So far, 300 people have died in the protests and close to 100 were killed in Sunday’s protests.

Following Hasina’s exit, crowds are said to be in jubilation.

In his address to thr nation, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff, confirmed that Hasina had resigned and that an interim government will now run the country.

He urged citizens to keep trust in the army, which, he said, would return peace to the country.

“We will also ensure that justice is served for every death and crime that occurred during the protests,” he said, calling on the public to exercise patience and cease any acts of violence and vandalism.

“We have invited representatives from all major political parties, and they have accepted our invitation and committed to collaborating with us,” the general added.
