Blogger and Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai is now blaming Judy Maina and her husband for the death of their two-year-old son Travis Maina.
This is after Judy and her sister appeared before the Senate Health Committee on Monday, October 31 to give an account of the events that lead to the death of the minor, who died after suffering an accident that saw a fork jembe get lodged in his skull.
Alai claims that Travis got hurt during a fight between his parents and the mother changed the story.
“What we aren’t saying is that the child was injured during a domestic fight. The child was a victim during a fight between the mother and father and then the mother faked a story,” the MCA said in a tweet.
Appearing before the committee, Judy revealed that she waited for 14 hours at the Kenyatta National Hospital before her son was taken to the theater. They arrived at the hospital at 6.30pm hoping that their case would be treated as an emergency only for their son to be taken to the theatre the next day at 1 pm.
The family was first required to pay Kshs20,000 before Travis could receive treatment but the mother managed to raise about Kshs Kshs1,650 from which she paid an admission fee of Ksh1,260.
She added that the doctors directed them not to give Travis any food or drink as they waited for the operation.
Travis died on October 11 as the doctors were operating on him at the national hospital.
Witnesses had earlier revealed that the fork jembe was accidentally lodged into the minor’s skull by one of his elder brothers as they played under a mango tree. Their mother was not at home when the incident occurred. He was rushed to the nearest dispensary by his uncle but since it was a holiday, nothing much was done.
With the help of a local pharmacist, the wooden handle on the fork jembe was detached and Travis was rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital where they were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital.
