Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance launched their manifesto in the evening of June 6 in an event that was held at the Nyayo stadium.
Leaders allied to the coalition, including the presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua graced the event. President Uhuru Kenyatta did not attend the launch due to unavoidable circumstances but sent his apology through Raila and was represented by several Jubilee leaders.
The launch saw the coalition unveil a 10- point agenda that it seeks to achieve if Kenyans vote for them on August 9.
The first agenda on the list is ‘Azimio la Ugatuzi’.Â
The Azimio government will be keen on strengthening devolution by increasing devolved resources and advancing a ‘one county, one product’ programme.
The ‘one county, one product’ is premised on manufacturing and value addition so as to generate wealth and create employment opportunities in order to double the rate of economic growth.Â
2.Azimio la Jitihada
The coalition seeks to recognize and support the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises such as Jua Kali.
Artisans, craftsmen and technicians will be awarded certificates after a policy of recognition has been adopted.
Azimio government will also sign Memorandum of Understanding with Jua Kali Associations and TVETSÂ to develop partnerships and incubation hubs
3.Azimio la Kina Mama
This is a focus on the Kenyan women whom Azimio referred to as ‘the true multipliers of wealth in our community’.
“The programme will unlock access to financing for women-led businesses and provide support for women and other enabling factors such as access to assets for production, land tenure and proportional representation at all levels,” Azimio said
Azimio la Ukulima
Azimio seeks to ensure that the country produces enough food to feed citizens, an agenda dubbed Fukuza Njaa.
“The Azimio commitment is to create an enabling environment for smart-climate agriculture, agro-processing, improved livestock farming and growth of the blue economy.”
Azimio la Viwanda
The coalition termed this as the key pillar of the Inawezekana agenda. The sector will “jump start and turn around the economy”.
The Azimio government will be keen on ensuring that the sector produces input materials like steel, copper and glass as well as secondary production of goods like machinery, transport and agriculture machinery and tools.
Industrialization will create employment opportunities for Kenyans especially the youth.
Azimio la Wananchi
This agenda will ensure that the people will remain sovereign and the government is theirs.
Public investments initiated on behalf of the citizens will not be abandoned when there is a change in the custodians of power.
“Starting afresh with every new administration is an exercise in profligacy, whereas public finance management demands optimal resource allocation,” the coalition said.
Azimio la Uwajibikaji
Those in leadership will be tasked with responsibilities of fighting corruption, ensuring efficiency and optimality in public service delivery. It is all about good leadership that will translate to economic revolution and the environment will be more conducive for productivity and investments.
Waste not a single child
A Raila-led government seeks to ensure that all of Kenyan children get access to quality education.
Azimio will achieve that by deploying motivated teachers to deliver quality education to children among other strategies.
Maji Kwa Kila boma
The coalition seeks to ensure that each of the Kneyan family gets access to clean and safe water. This will reverse water shortages and high cost of the basic need.
Babacare
This will focus on ensuring that Kenyans enjoy the right to accessible, quality and affordable care.
It seeks to upgrade the Universal Health Coverage to Universal Health care.
