Azimio la Umoja on Sunday, November 12, threatened to cripple the Dialogue Committee’s progress over the cost of living.
Speaking in Luanda, Azimio leaders vowed not to sign the Dialogue Committee report if it fails the address the spiralling cost of living.
Led by Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Azimio stated that they will forward the report to the Parliament should it fall short of people’s expectations.
DAP-Kenya Party leader Eugene Wamalwa who is equally a member of the national dialogue committee, vowed not to sign the committee report should it fail to capture recommendations on how the Kenya Kwanza administration should address the spiralling cost of living as a matter of urgency.
ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and a host of other leaders in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition added their voices to the high cost of living that they said the national dialogue committee must address.
The leaders have faulted President William Ruto’s administration for the high cost of fuel which has had repercussions on the cost of living, together with the recent arbitrary increase in Immigration and Citizen Services charges that will see Kenyans pay Ksh1,000 to get a national identification card.
Ruto remained tight-lipped despite numerous concerns raised by Kenyans over the new charges.
However, his administration is keen to explore every avenue to raise money to run his government.
