COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli is doing everything in his power to ensure that the December 31 Bukhungu stadium meeting is a success.
The Bukhungu meeting which has been dubbed Bukhungu declaration/Bukhungu 2 doubles up as the Azimio la Umoja Convention.
It is expected that the COTU boss will rally his tribesmen towards supporting the former prime minister Raila Odinga’s presidential ambitions as the 2022 general elections approach.
According to the People Daily, Atwoli said that he has acquired a machine worth Kshs5 million that will be able to detect those that have intentions of disrupting the Bukhungu rally.
“No meeting will be held in Western Kenya that day. I have just bought a Ksh5 million machine to detect all those who are planning to disrupt the meeting,” Atwoli said after inspecting the stadium.
The machine in question will listen to conversations of those with such intentions.
Previously, he assured Kenyans that security at the stadium will be tight and that he had put everything in place.
“As an elder in this area, I have made sure that the security that will be in Kakamega on the 31st will be tight and unparalleled,” Atwoli said.
He cautioned Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala against his plans of disrupting the meeting while claiming that he was the one who gave him the senatorial seat.
“The other day I overheard him saying that I am not giving people jobs and yet I am the one who made him be a senator. When someone has given you something he can decide and take it away from you at any time,” The 71-year old said.
Atwoli also said to have airlifted veteran lingala musicians Coco Nyboma and Faya Tess to the country for entertainment purposes during the Friday’s event.
