Arshad Sharif Death: New Twist As Second Autopsy Reveals Details That Kenyan Pathologists Failed To Capture

Date:

A second post-mortem was conducted on the body of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead in Kenya a few days ago.

The post-mortem was conducted in Pakistan by 8 pathologists from the  Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

They discovered a bullet lodged in his chest. The bullet was handed to the police and is believed to be a crucial lead in unraveling the mystery surrounding Arshad’s death.

The autopsy report further reveals that Arshad was shot on his head and he died of the injuries inflicted to him between 10-30 minutes after being shot.

“The board is of the opinion that the deceased died due to firearm injuries that caused damage to the brain and the right lung,”  the report stated.

It further revealed that all the injuries on Arshad occurred before his death and “could lead to an ordinary cause of death.”

The report however showed gaps in the autopsy on Arshad’s body that was conducted by the Kenyan pathologists at the Chiromo mortuary soon after his death.

Kenyan pathologists said that Arshad died after being shot between the shoulder and the head. A statement from the chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor insinuated that the bullet exited his body.

Oduor said that if a bullet is found in the body during autopsy, it is usually removed and handed over to the police. He however added that if the bullet was found on Arshad, it was important for the report to show its entry point.

“There is a need to show where the bullet entered the body. We saw an entry and exit point of the bullet,” he told a local daily.

Arshad was shot dead on Sunday, October 23 as the police were pursuing a car that had allegedly been stolen. It is however not clear why the police shot at the  Landcruiser, in which Arshad was in, when they were pursuing a Mercedes vehicle.

The police however later claimed that the occupants of the Landcruiser shot at them first forcing them to open fire.
