Another popular Luo Benga musician is pronounced dead

Barely a week after the death of popular Ohangla musician Abenny Jachiga of the Mani Kasinde hit song fame and his controversial burial, the Luo nation, and music fans have been thrown into mourning again.

This time they are mourning the death of Benga musician Omondi Long’ Lilo who passed on Tuesday, June 16 at a hospital in Bondo.

The singer known for chartbusters like Goretti, Okoth Pilot, and Kong’o Shida has been sick for some time now and had on February cried for help from well-wishers to come to his aid and help him foot hospital bills.

According to a local publication, Long Lilo had been at his home for a long time having no hopes of getting treatment and can’t afford the bills at the hospitals or even purchase the prescribed drugs by his doctors.

“I have been sick for a long period now and even my fellow close artists are aware, but only Odhaimbo Tusker has ever sent me some money to buy medicine,” he was quoted then.

He added that politicians and prominent people who are being sung only love them when they are still strong. The same case was witnessed on the incident of Lady Maureen, queen of Ohangla who is currently getting treatment in Kisumu after her fellow musician Akothee came for her aid

I really need help  and I’m calling upon any well-wisher to facilitate my medication so that I can rise again and entertain my people,” he pleaded.

The singer had been down since December last year when he seriously fell sick and was admitted to a local hospital.

Among the first people to send their condolences was fellow musician Otieno Small Janyawara who described him as a musician who fostered unity among fellow artistes and was at his peak.

Former PM Raila Odinga’s aid Silas Jakakimba also mourned the singer noting ” I convey my deepest condolences to the Family, Friends, Fans and Relatives of the late Luo Benga Meastro Omondi Long Lilo. We have been able to interact more often than not, the past couple of months in regard to your medication. Thank you Odhiambo Tusker for initially making this connection possible. You leave behind a family led by a strong and kind lady, Gorreti. I wish her well and pray that God’s Grace may cover her now and, into the uncertain future of widowhood:”

Singer Dolla Kabbary said It’s so sad that you also had to leave us this early you were a hero you fought your race in the industry you were such a promising musician with high hopes of living bro am just lost of words on how I can mourn your departure, you have left us with memories of your amazing songs .we will miss you alot and your family will miss you more . They say you ran a good race fought the good fight. Rest in peace Brother.

The late singer Omondi came to the limelight back in the year 2007 after a break up with the king of Benga Dr Osito kale, Odhiambo Tusker and Ogina Koko
