Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua and Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki have left William Ruto’s karen home at supersonic speed.
Sonko News has learnt that negotiations hit a snag on who would deputize William Ruto, forcing the two leaders to exit Karen in protest.
According to reliable reports, Kithure Kindiki was the first one to leave Karen at 5PM before being followed by Rigathi Gachagua 20 minutes later.
The same source has added that there are some leaders who are still holed up in a meeting at William Ruto’s Karen residence.
Interestingly, Rigathi Gachagua and Kithure Kindiki were subjected to a nomination exercise but the final results not only shocked everyone but also caused very deep divisions.
This came in the wake of supporters of the Mathira member of parliament threatening that they will bolt out of Kenya kwanza if their son Gachagua is not named the running mate.
While speaking to the local TV stations, these supporters chanted “No Rigathi No Ruto,” something which is said to have sent waves of shock to the Kenya kwanza fraternity.
According to these supporters, the deputy president seat had been reserved for Rigathi Gachagua and they expected William Ruto not to play with them by shortchanging their son.
It seems this was not the case as Sonko News has learnt that Kindiki performed much better in the nominations but there was one problem; gachagua refused to accept the outcome given the energy and resources he has invested in the United Democratic Alliance.
“The outcome of the results were shocking and one of the leaders refused to concede defeat. Even attempts by the senior most party leaders to intervene hit a dead end since no one was listening.” said one source in Karen.
Feeling frustrated, Kithure is said to have left Karen at a supersonic speed since he could not agree with the cartels that wanted to play him despite winning the nominations. Kithure drove himself as his driver watched the mheshimiwa helplessly.
