Kenyans on social media on Thursday expressed their anger after the Kamiti three were received like VIPs (very important people) in a government chopper.
These Kenyans wondered why terrorist suspects were being treated like dignitaries to the extent of being flown To Kamiti as opposed to being made to walk all the way from Kitui county to Nairobi.
“Convicts, Terrorists are now received like dignitaries??? Enhee alafu after escaping wakafuatana kama kondoo….. But next time when you stage manage things at least make it look real. We all know this was a plot to remove Ogalo… There is nothing like a prison break here… Wajinga waliisha Kenya!”
At the same time, Kenyans have demanded that the fired Wycliffe Ogallo be given back his job with immediate effect following the arrest of the Kamiti Three Who escaped on Monday.
The outgoing Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner General Mr. Wycliffe Ogallo was allegedly arrested after being fired by president Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday.
However, The National Police Service came out to clarify the viral rumors that he was arrested while insisting that the police took him to only facilitate smooth handover of power.
“The reporting appearing in mainstream and social media that the former Kenya Prisons Service’s Commissioner General Mr. Wycliffe Ogallo has been arrested by police is not accurate as stated. This is to clarify that police only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office.” Wrote the National Police Service in a tweet.
Wycliffe Ogallo and Kamiti head Charles Mutembei were fired just a day after three terrorist suspects escaped from the tightly manned Kamiti Maximum Prison.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) even offered a 60 million Kenya shilling reward for anyone that would issue information on three terror suspects that escaped Kamiti Maximum Prison.
After being re-arrested on Thursday, Kenyans had the following to say:
“Bwana CS I’m sure these 3 Kenyans didn’t force their way out of Kamiti rather they were freely freed in order fire someone by the name Ogolla and hire someone else. Kindly an investigative committee should be formed to found out how they managed to escape from Kamiti Maximum prison which is under CCTV camera 24/7 and manned by prison waders.”
“Hii ndo tulifundishwa kwa biology, “Capture Recapture” maybe someone used it to frustrate Ogallo, who knows ?.”
“The only terrorist who will have a testimony in future…They escaped in the hands of armed MEN,finally they were arrested in KITUI, used the rarest means of TRANSPORT to our CAPITAL CITY..I was so fearful, I’m NOW SAFE…congra MEN in UNIFORM✊”
“Government should make sure the promise of Ksh 60M remains in Mwingi at least to even construct classes for the nearby school.”
“Mwangi Thuku kumbe we got the same views this stuff was stage managed coz there is no way those criminals can use the same route to escape it doesn’t make sense.”
“Stage managed episode to allow militarization of prisons. Why was CS and PS interior Not fired alongside prisons boss?!!!”
“This is a written script… We know your aim was either to fire ogallo or eat the 60m… Corrupt CS..you’re supposed to escort them in for 5 years imprisonment.”
“Hassan Mugambi Of citizen TV asked when you’re giving out the 60M promise to the whistle blower and you quickly cut him short, It should not be a matter of ‘are you going to’ but a matter of ‘when are you going to.”
