Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed was harshly reminded how hard it is to speak to a group of thrill chasing youth at the recent Koraga Festival that was held at Bomas of Kenya on Sunday.
The CS took to the podium to address the revelers who were having fun but none of them was ready to listen to her.
Immediately she got to the stage, the audience started heckling and shouting with others saying “aende uko”.
“I know I don’t have to make a speech today because we are here to have fun, are we having fun?” the CS could be heard saying before she was kicked off stage by the rowdy audience.
Koroga Festival is a celebration of African music, food, art and fashion brought out in form of a concert and open boutique market.
Amina Mohamed denies netball team is stranded sues Standard
Named after the Swahili word meaning “mix,” the festival is a great reflection of Kenya’s brilliant and diverse local talent, whilst also attracting leading artists from all over the world through music, fashion, food and arts.
Although it is not clear why the audience resorted to heckling, the Sports and Culture Ministry has been on the spot over mismanagement of sports affairs in the country.
Top in the list is lack of appreciation to the country’s sports persons and more often players and athletes who have represented the country in different competitions have ended up stranded for lack of accommodation or return tickets.
