American Journalist Under Fire For Making A False Statement About Pregnant Kenyan Women On Live TV

Date:

Fox News journalist Emily Compagno has found herself on the wrong side with Kenyans on Twitter after making a false remark about pregnant Kenyan women on live TV.

Compagno was engrossed in a discussion with her fellow panelist and she brought up the subject of pregnant Kenyan women not having constructive rights to vote just to explain a point that she was putting across.

“She is talking about what? voting rights? That we have less voting rights here, what about in Kenya where pregnant women can’t leave the house so they absolutely have no constructive rights to go and vote or in Oman where women vote as their husbands do,” the journalist said.

Her remarks have angered Kenyans who have criticized her for lying with a straight face and are demanding an apology from her.

“This statement MUST be withdrawn on LIVE TV. Dear @FoxNews, @foxandfriends@Gutfeldfoxand@TuckerCarlsonYou must withdraw this statement. Pregnant women in Kenya can’t get out of the house to vote? Did you do your background check before throwing this out there? UNACCEPTABLE,” read a comment on Twitter

“This is so annoying because pregnant women are literally given priority & afforded the courtesy to not queue in voting lines???” said another Kenyan.

“Pregnant women in Kenya are allowed to leave the house. Pregnan t women in Kenya can vote. They get priority on voting lines. They do give birth free of charge under the government #lindamama program. Retract your statement,” Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris said.

“What is this? What is @EmilyCompagno saying? That in Kenya pregnant women can’t leave the house so they have no right to vote? What does she imagine our country is like? That statement is incorrect, misleading, condescending and should be withdrawn,” Lilian Njeri sadi.
