On Wednesday night, Akothee finally came clean on what is ailing her. She revealed that she is suffering from Cervical radiculopathy, commonly called a “pinched nerve”.
A pinched nerve occurs when a nerve in the neck is compressed or irritated where it branches away from the spinal cord. This may cause pain that radiates into the shoulder and/or arm, as well as muscle weakness and numbness.
Akothee has lost of the power of physical sensation as a result of a pinched nerve, she revealed that she is experiencing numbness in her left arm.
A pinched nerve can become serious, causing chronic pain, or even lead to permanent nerve damage.
Non-surgical treatment such as physical therapy is usually used to treat pinched nerve, however surgery could be needed in case spinal nerves need to be fixed.
A pinched nerve could be caused by arthritis, aging, sudden injury from sports or an accident, awkward lifting, pulling, or twisting movements, repetitive motion tasks over an extended period of time, obesity, pregnancy or diabetes.
