Churchill show comedian Akuku Danger is once again pleading with Kenyans to help him offset a huge hospital bill following his admission in hospital about two weeks ago.
Akuku currently owes Nairobi West Hospital Kshs823,000, an amount that has forced the hospital to bar him from leaving its premises until it is settled.
Taking to social media, Akuku said that the disease he is suffering from, Sickle Cell Anemia, has drained him physically, mentally and financially.
He further said that it was not his wish to be sickly after a number of Kenyans trolled him for requesting financial help once again. Earlier this year, Akuku had called upon Kenyans to help him offset Ksh1.5 million hospital bill.
“I never asked to be in this position, half of this year has been months and months of hospital admissions due to sickle cell anaemia which has since drained me both mentally, financially and even physically and that’s why I come to you guys seeking help. It’s been challenging but I’m hanging in there. Msichoke na Mimi For any financial support kindly use the Paybill Number 8024409m Account Name: AKUKU MEDICAL FUND. Any Amount will go a long way,” he wrote on his social media accounts.
The news about Akuku’s detention at Nairobi West Hospital was shared by his girlfriend Sandra Dacha. She said that the hospital had refused to allow a collateral for the comedian to settle the bill outside hospital.
“@itsakukudanger the Comedian has been admitted at Nairobi West Hospital for the past two weeks and has since accrued a bill of Kshs823,000 after deductions from his Insurance and cash deposits too,” Dacha said.
Her post was the origin of the trolls with netizens accusing them of clout chasing. Others noted that they were celebrities who splashed millions on weekends at entertainment joints.
“These are the same celebrities that flaunt spending millions on weekends…,” @Pizzahmwitu tweeted, attracting more hateful remarks on Akuku’s issue.
“When unwell just go to the nearest public dispensary if you don’t have insurance. Why check into a pricey hospital just to score useless points. Same doctors, same medicine. Death will come either way,” Sidong said.
“Just clout chasing bro, the guys are striving to make ends meet,” another netizen said.
“Akae huko apige duster na kuchekesha wagonjwa,” another comment read.
