Ferdinand Omanyala has been rewarded with a brand new car by a betting firm after he broke the 100 meters African record.
Odibets rewarded Omanyala with a Toyota Harrier for breaking the record by running for only 9.77 seconds during the Kip Keino Classics held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani last Saturday.
The events was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, ODM leader Raila Odinga among others.
The 25-year old was handed the keys by the firm’s general manager Dedan Mungai in an event that was held at the New Stanley Hotel on Wednesday.
“Hard work, discipline and perseverance are the three main components of success, as I ran the race on Saturday at the Kasarani Sports stadium, I did not know right now I would be the proud owner of a car,” Omanyala said after receiving his reward.
“Odibets came at the right time when I needed them and it is through them, I was able to focus on my training enabling me to break the African record,” he added.
The car number plate will be 977, as a mark of the time that the star ran to become Africa’s fastest man.
While handing Omanyala the keys, Mungai said that his company was proud to associate with him.
“We as a company are proud to associate ourselves with Omanyala who has proved beyond all means that Kenya can conquer the world in the field of athletics, his character, resilience, endurance and performance is aligned with our core values as a company,” Mungai said.
The car is the second gift the athlete received from Odibets. Initially, he was gifted Ksh1.5 million for qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics.
Omanyala was accompanied by his girlfriend during the Wednesday event. The two were also been granted a vacation by a tours and travel company in a separate occasion.
