Isaac Juma, Kenya’s number one football fan was laid to rest on Saturday, February 12 at Ebunyenjere Village, Mumias West Sub County, Kakamega County.
Juma was an ardent fan of Harambee stars and AFC leopards and would never miss any of their key matches just to show them support and cheer them up.
Fans of AFC and Juma’s friends showed up at the burial ceremony in style. The group, donned in AFC leopards attires, danced and sang while hoisting the football club’s flag high as they entered the venue.
Others painted their bodies just like Juma would do when he attended the football teams’ matches.
They could also be heard blowing trumpets and whistles thus bringing the burial programme to a standstill for a few minutes as they showed solidarity to their fallen colleague.

Fans of Gor Mahia, Sofapaka, Kakamega Homeboys and Nzoia sugar also attended the burial ceremony.
Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya is also among those who showed up for the event.
Those who addressed mourners called upon the government to ensure that Juma’s murderers are brought to book so that his family can find justice.
His family, however, expressed their fear in living in the disputed land that is believed to be the cause of Juma’s death and called upon the government to evacuate them.
“My dad used to tell us that some of his relatives are giving him sleepless nights over land issues. Please the government wake up and tell us where we will go,” one of his sons, Brian Juma, said.
The 56-year old was murdered in cold blood on the night of January 26, 2022 by unknown people outside his home. One suspect was arrested in connection to the murder.
