Police officer invades a couple’s lunch, eat their food and injures man

Police caused drama at Heroes restaurant, in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua county after when he ate the food of a couple, Jane Njoki and Geoffery Githu, who were having a lunch date and beat up the man.

The officer is said to have walked into the eatery, strolled to the couple’s table and without saying a word or washing his hands, he dipped into their plates and scooped pieces of meat.

According to a police report, the lovers were annoyed by the law enforcer’s behavior and declined to eat the food and also attempted to leave the restaurant. This did not stop the officer identified as Chirchir from devouring the remaining food from the duo’s plates which he cleared in a matter of minutes and demanded the couple buys him alcohol.

A melee erupted which left Githu with injuries. He resorted to reporting the matter at Ndaragwa police station. However, Chirchir cut him off and even continued to clobber him in front of the OCS. Police officers came to Githu’s rescue and arrested the rogue law enforcer. The man rushed to the hospital and was asked to report to the station on Monday, July 20.

Elsewhere detectives in Makueni County are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly committed suicide while at his lover’s single-room house in Wote town.

 

According to the deceased’s lover, she retired to bed early leaving her 32-year-old boyfriend watching the football match between English Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United in a FA Cup tie. The football tied ended 3-1 in favour of Chelsea.

The woman told the police that she woke up at about 4 am on Monday morning, July 20, to find her boyfriend’s body hanging from the roof of the house.

She said did not know why the man would have committed suicide since they had not quarreled.

The boyfriend allegedly hanged himself to death using his own jacket.

Police took the man’s body to the Makueni Referral Hospital mortuary.

However, following preliminary investigations police seized the woman for further questioning.

“Since it was a single room, this raised suspicions. We have arrested the lady to help in investigations over the boyfriend’s death. If there was foul play, the post-mortem would tell,” said Makueni Sub-County Police Commander Timothy Maina said.
