Starehe MP Jaguar Speaks After His Arrest

Date:

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua has spoken out about his arrest a few hours after being taken into police custody.

Jaguar has said he being held at the Nairobi Area Police Station in claims that he incited hawkers on the allocation of business stalls in the Mwariro market.

“I’m currently in the Nairobi area. The charges against me are unclear though they seem connected to the Mwariro market,” the MP said on his Twitter handle.

The musician cum politician has vowed to continue fighting against what he terms as unfair allocation of stalls in the market.

Jaguar’s arrest comes just a few hours after the Nairobi Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega warned politicians and leaders against inciting traders on the allocation of market places.

According to the county police boss, a special committee led by Nairobi County Commissioner Flora Mwori has been established to oversee the legal and procedural allocation of market spaces to genuine business people.

According to Njega, people are going around the city collecting money purporting to allocate traders’ market stalls.

The police boss assured the traders in various markets in the city that the space allocations will be done fairly.
