The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution finally secured the extradition of wanted murder suspect Kevin Kag’ethe to US.
Kang’ethe is believed to have killed his girlfriend Maragaret Mbithu in October 2023 and left her body in a car at Boston airport before fleeing to Kenya.
The fugitive was arrested in early February this year while leaving a club in Ngong. He however managed to escape from Muthaiga police station before he was re-arrested again, while seeking refuge at one of his relatives home.
In a statement on Monday, ODPP revealed that Kang’ethe was extradited to US on Sunday September 1, following a ruling by chief magistrate Lucas Onyina.
He will face murder charges at Suffolk Superior Court in Pemberton Square in Boston on September 3, 2024.
“I wish to reiterate my commitment and support whenever needed to the United States of America and in particular the prosecution team as they proceed with the next face,” the Director of Public Prosecution Renson Ingonga said.
“To the family of the late Margaret Mbithu, we offer our support and prayers.”
