Comedian turned activist and philanthropist Eric Omondi has officially launched his referendum, that seeks to strike down the number of counties to 8.
Aside from that, the referendum is seeking to do away with nominated positions, women reps as well the entire senate.
“Kenyans are over represented. One person has a president, deputy president, governor, deputy governor, senator, MP, women rep, MCA, regional commissioner, county commissioner, assistant county commissioner, chief, sub chief and village elder,” Etic argued.
“A single Kenyan is represented by 16 people doing more or less the same thing.”
He will be collecting signatures across the country to support the referendum.
Eric is seeking to reduce the number of counties and elected leaders saying they are burdening taxpayers.
“We have officially launched the process to go to a referendum to reduce the number of counties from 47 to 8. We are going to collect signatures to begin the process. Kenyans are extremely and overwhelmingly represented. The intention was to devolve services but we ended up devolving corruption. The tax payer is overburdened,” he further said.
