Lots Of Things Are Happening Around Us But Young People Are Unaware- Charlene Ruto

Date:

First daughter Charlene Ruto has said that the gap in public information has seen many youths get locked out of many opportunities.

Speaking in Mombasa during the International Youths Day, challenged the young youths to put in effort in accessing such opportunities.

“Our President recently shared the national employment site where there are opportunities. There are a lot of things happening around us, but young people are not aware of them. This is up to you to pursue and put in the effort. Information is power,” she said.

She also said that positive change is achievable if community leaders, youth networks and private partners collaborate.

“I celebrate the vibrancy, energy, and joy of the young people. They may not have everything in the world, but they find joy in the little things. That is what I am celebrating today,” she stated.

Charlene also urged leaders at county level to serve those who elected them instead of bestowing the entire responsibility to president William Ruto.

“Leaders at the counties, the governors, need to take up the responsibility to serve their electorates,” she said.

Mombasa Nominated Senator Miraj Abdillah called for a tax relief for youths starting businesses within the counties to help them establish a solid footing.

“We should give a grace period to the youth in start-ups. Let us not frustrate the youths who are starting businesses with tax burdens. They should get a reprieve,” she said,

On the other hand, Sports and Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Ismail Maalim Madey advocated for the involvement of the youths in decision making.

She added that ministry has partnered with various stakeholders in initiatives that will enable youths monetize their skills.
