President William Ruto is on a tour at Nyamira county where he is expected to launch several development projects.
On Monday, he laid the foundation stone for the Kiabonyoru secondary school.
At function, the head of state revealed that plans were underway for the construction of university in the county..
“Here in Nyamira, just like we will do in every county, we have put in place plans and strategies to have a university. We have already agreed with Kisii University which will oversee the construction and development of the university here in Nyamira,” he said.
Ruto added that the residents will be in charge of deciding where the institution will be set up.
The first in command said that the county will also receive 68 new schools with 183 classrooms, 48 laboratories and dormitories for students.
He further vowed to deal with the issue of electricity, ensuring that every house is connected to power.
“We have set aside Kshs650 million for supplying electricity. 10,000 new homes will get connected to electricity,” he said.
“Fourthly, I have come here because of the issue of roads. We have a project of new 62km road. I went to China and agreed with the president, we have already set aside funds for the project so that even those who will be coming to this university can use the road,” he said.
Rito added that the county will also receive new 9 markets as well as affordable houses.
