About Kshs2.5 million has already been set aside for the re-introduction of Linda Mama, programme targeting expecting women.
According to Health Principal Secretary, the programme, which will one of the pillars for the Social Health Insurance Fund will be reintroduced under the same name but with enhanced benefits.
“Linda Mama was the programme that was taking care of the pregnant mothers, when they were giving birth and what we are doing right now is repackage the same and enhance the benefits. We will take care of pre-natal care, normal delivery, CS we will also take care of the newborn care.
“Equally if there are complications, then we will extend the same for that. The package is much bigger and better than what the women used to have,” Muthoni said
With enhanced benefits, beneficiaries of the programme will not require to get into their pockets to get any of the requirements for delivery.
“This is going to be a stand-alone program under SHIF, just like it used to be, to take care of mothers and babies,” the PS said on Tuesday.
“For normal delivery, the benefit is now Ksh.11,000 while for caesarean delivery, it is going to be Ksh.32,000,” she added.
