Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino is no longer required to present himself at DCI headquarters for an inquiry on allegations that he was involved with incitement and money laundering.
This is after the DCI officer involved with the investigations Eunice Njue informed him that the summon had been withdrawn.
Owino shared a screenshot of the WhatsApp message he received from the officer asking him to stand down.
The Controversial MP said that he had prepared himself ardently for the ‘date’ with the detective.
According to him, he had planned to show up with a mass, including his lawyers, at the DCI headquarters.
“The DCI has UNCEREMONIOUSLY WITHDRAWN their SUMMON.
I was to be accompanied by my advocates,MPs and The people of Kenya, but it appears news of our visit in our thousands prompted them to recall their invitation.
“I reiterate that we shall not be intimidated into silence. No matter the price, we are ready to pay it! A screenshot of their communication is posted below,” he said.
Owino was supposed to present himself at DCI on July 24 at 9 am, failure to which he would have been arrested, as stated in the summon.
He earlier told off DCI over the summon, which he deemed a strategy to threaten and intimidate him.
“The DCI and Ruto should change strategy coz I’m used to the nonsense of arrests and prosecution. They started arresting me when I used to sell Chang’aa while in Primary school. This will not prevent me from fighting for my People,” the lawmaker said.
