Eugene Wamalwa Reacts As Raila Agrees To Dialogue Calls By Ruto

Date:

President William Ruto has announced that there will be a 6- day multi-sectoral dialogue forum from Monday July 15.

Participants of the talks will be drawn from political parties, youths, religious groups, employers as well as the civil society.

The talks will also focus on the issues pressing Kenyans.

According to the head of state, the talks are meant for proposing a way forward for the country.

“In the interest of making sure we live within our means, all participants will bear their attendance costs. This is a result of the consultations we had this morning,” Ruto said, adding that stakeholders will be required to submit names of their representatives by Friday this week.

Ruto spoke after signing into law IEBC’s Amended Bill 2024.

Also present were Opposition leaders including Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka who had also witnessed the signing.

Raila said that the dialogue was the best way forward out of the crisis that the country is going through.

“We will give people opportunity to be heard,” the ODM party leader. “There are many issues affecting Kenyans but all of them are solvable. Unemployment, corruption, ethnicity, debt and the management of the economy are issues we need to talk about ”

DAP leader, who is also opposition leader has however rejected the call for dialogue.

“I am not boarding,” he declared in a tweet.

Several Kenyans, the youth in particular, have also dismissed the plans for dialogue.

“Raila, as yo go ahead and dialogue, kindly don’t involve us. Discuss your private matters, you don’t speakon our behalf,” an X user said.

Cornelius Ronoh, on the other hand said, ” The dialogue is between William Ruto and Raila Odinga. We refuse to be controlled by selfish politicians who only value their stomachs.  Gen Zs and Millennials are now taking the bull by the horns. Hatupangwingwi. They will not believe . Ruto must go.”
