Mike Sonko Nearly Roughed Up By Youths In Kariokor

Date:

On Friday, Mike Sonko showed up in Kariokor area in his sleek motorcade, and locals suspected that he was one of the MPs who betrayed Kenyans on the Finance Bill 2024 issue.

In a tweet, Sonko said that that the locals blocked him and wanted to chase him away.

“Waah! Leo nimekuwa pale Nairobi crankshaft Kariako makaburini kuchukua cylinder head yangu. Maboys wakaniblock wakidhani mimi ni Mp wale walipiga Yes. Loo karibu wanitoe mbio,” he said.

Realizing that it was him, they welcomed him joyfully and  his security detail cordoned off the youths who wanted to get close to him.

The video has however left netizens with mixed reactions some accusing him of engaging in PR.

“None of them is a potential voter and stop politics of blackmail. In politics we don’t move from one extra end to another,” an X user told him.

Sonko however responded asking the netizen to stop being jealous.

Another X user, known as George Kinuthia, asked the former governor to return public funds that he allegedly stole.

“Rudisha tax zetu zenye uliiba usidhani tumesahau , unaongea kama nani?” he said.

“Niliiba tax yako ama ya babako. Hizo cases zote zilikuwa smear campaign yakuning’oa. Get your facts right. Nugu,” Sonko fired back.

“Is there anytime that sonko went to kariako for a cylinder head when he was governor or in any political position?” another X user questioned him, and Sonko said that, “Yes, mimi hata spare parts zote hujinunulia siku zote wacha nikikiwa gavaa hata nilipokuwa Mp na Senator huwa napenda.”

Sonko has been vocal in supporting the young generation that has been in the streets in the past few todays to protests against the Finance Bill. At one point, Sonko lamented that he was being accused of funding those who have been taking to the streets.
