Video: Police Lob Teargas At Protesters In Nairobi

A section of Kenyans are still not satisfied after President William Ruto announced that he had withdrawn the Finance Bill 2024, after listening to the voice of the people.

Some of in different parts of the country, have gathered to continue with the protests despite the president’s announcement on Wednesday afternoon. The Military has also been deployed at different parts of Nairobi, beefing up security and contain the situation, after the police were overwhelmed by protestors on Tuesday

In Nairobi CBD, police have lobbed teargas at protestor who had began gathering along Moi Avenue.

In their 7-day action plan, the young protesters were to ‘Occupy Statehouse’ this Thursday, after a successful ‘Occupy Parliament’ Protest on Tuesday June 25, 2024.

President Ruto initiated the process to have the Finance Bill completely withdrawn.

In his memo to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ruto directed that all the clauses of the bill should be deleted.

“Now therefore in the exercise of the powers conferred to me by Article 115(1)(b) of the constitution and having reservations on the contents of the Bill in its entirety,  I decline to assent the Finance Bill 2024 and refer the Bill to reconsideration by the National Assembly with the recommendation for the deletion of all clauses thereof,” he said.
